Four episodes in a season? That's almost $120 thousand in a year. Binging or research is worth it. Wow! He's definitely being overpaid. For that - he better actually write for all the characters in the show and watch the entire show - at least the main episodes to get a real feel of it. That is the bare minimum he should do. If a software programmer were to join a company and start writing his own code without really reading up on what has already been done - would that work? But that is what this moron is doing and it's OK? And what he's getting paid seems close to what they would be getting. Definitely overpaid. How long would it take to watch everything? When I first starting watching (somewhere through S6) - I binge watched all 5 seasons - took me about a couple of weeks but I did it. And I wasn't getting paid for it. For what he's getting paid, he better watch everything. At this rate, they - Dabb, Singer and their pet Perez and the terrible Nep Duo are killing this show.

There have been other seasons that I've felt "meh" about the finale but at least I've liked other aspects - an interesting new character like Benny, a cool twist, some great fighting scenes, memorable episodes. Apart from Jensen's performance in "Remembering Dean", there's been nothing like that for me this season.
I'd even be willing to overlook the farcical BMoL & snooze-worthy Lucifer storylines. Maybe Dabb needed time to find his bearings on the showrunner learning curve. But I can't give the same pass to what's been done to Mary's once beloved character. Conflicted is one thing; being written as a cold bitch who apparently hates being a mother and resents her children is another. And I especially can't forgive Dabb for how he's deconstructed Dean. Dean's always been my default; even in the worst seasons, I could count on his character to see me through. Dabb's taken everything from Dean- his badass fighting skills, his gut instincts, his bonding with guest characters, his POV - and left him essentially a neutered, comic relief doormat (oh, and the emo scenes because as Singer said, Jensen can always be relied on for those.) Even in the sneak peek for tonight's episode, Dean asks Sam what to do about the nephilim. Remember when Dean used to be the leader of TFW and folks asked him what to do? That's why I'd always expected Dean's end game to be that of a leader in the hunting community (with Sam taking up Bobby's mantle as the hunters' research expert.) Now I actually dread seeing how Dean will figure (or, in this case, not figure) into the "Winchesters as generals." Because if the past 2 seasons are any indication, Sam will suddenly be hailed as the greatest leader in modern history while Dean will..... well, I'm not sure what Dean will do. Maybe drool over another hamburger.

Maybe drool over another hamburger. This is the main problem with this season. In the past, even with seasons some Dean fans hate, they have always given Dean some hero moments to make up for it. In season eight when Sam was the chosen one and Dean was his cook they gave us enough badass purgatory moments to make up for it. This season, Sam gets all the hero moments and the ridiculous number of Mary and BoL monster kills seem to cheapen Dean's past accomplishments. They have turned him into a silly sidekick and I think that has been reflected in the ratings and the number of SPN fans that seem to be leaving the show. Unfortunately, there is no indication that they cleaned any of this up in the last few episodes. It is going to take someone higher up or Jensen threatening to leave for any of this to change.

Maybe drool over another hamburger. Dean will get bonked in the head and wander off therefor missing anything important. Sam will somehow be gifted some hollow leadership moment that cheapens everything and Mary will boink next season's sucky villain. idk, it took me awhile to get started on this season and finishing it is an uphill battle. Dean aside it's at best an incredibly forgettable season unless you're talking things to complain about. Maybe some Sammfams have been happy but I wouldn't be if I were them. It's been badly done all over.

And I wasn't getting paid for it. For what he's getting paid, he better watch everything. Well, if you treated it like a full-time job, you could do it in three-to-four weeks, depending on how many hours a day you spent watching and whether or not you took any days off. This would, of course, not leave a lot of time for pausing and taking notes, but you'd get the gist.
