I guess this is the same writer who wrote the Hitler episode, and while I get that a lot of fans didn't like that one, I did because it was just about the only other episode this year that gave Dean something to do - and, bottom line, that's my criteria. If Dean isn't doing anything, or worse barely there, then I'm not going to invest or care at all, and that's that. But, really, in this script as in the Hitler script the Winchesters were the leads again, which they rarely are these days.
So it's nice to have a writer on staff who actually wants to write for the Winchesters - and I don't mean Mary Sue, I mean Dean and Sam.
IMO this script felt so much tighter for the fact that there were only three main characters and really very few guest-stars. And, yes, the guest-stars were GUEST-STARS! There simply to move the story along for the LEADS. Again, it makes a big difference.
I love that Jensen was finally given material that was worth showing up to work for, and that the focus was on Dean for the first time in ... I can't remember the last time the focus was on Dean.
I do wonder how much better a script like this would have been in another season with stronger writers, but I'll take it as is considering what a bust most of this year has been.
I did love the Dean music montage at the end, especially all the glorious shots of Jensen on the mechanical bull. But at the same time I thought it felt a little like a goodbye letter to a long-standing favorite character, as if Jensen was leaving the show.
Of course, given the hints and talk about what's coming up the rest of the season, and the fact that Jensen appears to have barely worked since the holidays, It could very well be a goodbye to Dean for the remainder of the season. And if that's the case, then this will definitely turn out to be my favorite episode of the season.

Eh, I don't think Dean or Jensen is going anywhere. C'mon, people, he's been dealing with infant twins and a toddler. Cut him some slack. Unless he's a complete bastard of a husband, he's gotta be fried. What I saw in the bull montage was a chance for him to cut loose and blow off some steam. As for the melancholy tone, I think it's connected to how "tragic" it is that Dean has to lose his innocence all over again, but as Dean said, forgetting wasn't all it's cracked up to be. Final same-night ratings are out. The show got a 0.6/2 and 1.73 million in audience. On par with the past few weeks: tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/daily-ratings/thursday-final-ratings-feb-9-2017/

I'm still not sure how to reply directly to people on these boards.
However, this episode was the best episode of the season so far. By a mile. Jensen knocked it out of the park.

It's a bit confusing as it is right now. Maybe a different color and font for quoted text?

I tend to go green when I post for the most part, if I don't go a color, I'm using my tablet.

So, it's automatically green? Like Kermit?

So, it's automatically green? Like Kermit? No, I need to put the color at a green every time I reply. Which sucks IMO, but if I'm not typing on a tablet I can do it easily.
