Fishpan, stop baiting the mod.
I agree that the murders are intended to turn the audience against the LoL and show us they're bad before the Brothers do. I don't think the Brothers (Dean, anyway) need that much proof. The whole capture-and-torture incident with Sam was enough for Dean and it was enough for Sam until he got handed the idjit Ball last week.
I don't agree that Toni went off the reservation. I think it was a Bad Cop/Good Cop strategy all along, with Toni playing Bad Cop and Mick riding in to "save the day." Toni seemed sincere about not wanting Retch to get called in, though.
Frankly, as long as we never see her again, I'm good with not finding out the rest of her whole deal.

Snow where the hell....??
I apologised if what I said about Mary was perceived as bashing but it was part of my point. I'm not making it personal.

I really enjoyed this episode, I didn’t think I would due to it being Dean lite, as you can tell I am a Deans girl. I can understand Jensen wanted to be with his family, for the birth of his twins. I was pleased they continued with the conversation between Mary and the boys. I was sad to see Sam wanting to join the men of letters, why doesn’t Sam just say to Dean he wants to work with them instead of being sneaky and going behind his back again. Dean is going to feel so betrayed again by his whole family. Dean and Mr Ketch can team up I suppose, but Dean is nothing like him. Had they teamed up when Dean had the Mark of Cain, it might have been a different story. I think Dean's reconciliation with Mary at the end was motivated in large part by looking at Retch and his unapologetic misogyny, and thinking, "This is not me. This is not how I want to end up." At the end of the day, Mary is his mother, both biologically and though nurture. She's the woman who carried him to term. Who sang him to sleep at night and made him soup when he was sick. A woman whose absence he missed so fiercely for *decades* that he threw his own beloved baby brother up against a bridge pylon for daring to speak remotely ill of her. He didn't have that kind of relationship with Grandpa Shady and also, Mary never pushed things as far with her sons as her father did. She did come clean without having it dragged out of her and she was contrite at the end of this week. Plus, she did beg him to reconcile when he cut off contact with her, indicating that relationship they'd once shared was not entirely a fantasy inside his head. So, those things all weighed in her favor, as well. One could argue that Dean was justified in continuing to freeze Mary out, but I don't think anybody wants Dean Winchester to be a person who'd disown his own mother. This is exactly what warmed me to her with this episode. She chose to come clean. She pushed for reconciliation after Dean froze her out. She seemed genuinely remorseful of her previous betrayal. I didn't see the end scene between Mary and Dean as him apologising to her, but rather him acknowledging that their parent/child dynamic has changed and he forgave her mistakes, for his own as much as for her benefit.

I'm not convinced we've seen the end of Toni either. It feels as though the BMoL are restating 'she went rogue' in every episode, so much so that it stands out like dogs' balls every time they say it. We get it. She went rogue. They're protesting her alliance to them so much that I'm having trouble believing it.
These writers, they're neither subtle nor clever.

I read the post and I saw it as more of a commentary of the writing about Mary's views on hunting, and not really an attack on Mary as a character.

Thirding here.
I think there's a really think line between bashing Mary for the sake of bashing Mary, and commenting on the really bad work the writers have done to her character especially in episodes like this. However, Fish started with an apology, which to me seemed to imply that they know the line is thin.
I totally get your annoyance at Mary bashing, Snow, but I don't see Fish's post as being willfully taunting.

Continuing on a subject when issued a warning doesn't strike me as good faith.
