Any fellow book lovers.
I'm currently reading The Terror by Dan Simmons. It's about a two ships trying to find the Northwest passage in the 1800s and they get frozen into the waters of the arctic . The food and heating supplies are running out, and there is something on the ice stalking them.
Its really good and the author is very descriptive. I want to get under my covers when I'm reading the description of how cold it is.

I am a fan of The Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. They're a paranormal romance series that can be pretty smutty. But for the most part, the smut is few and far between and the books read like an episode of Buffy. They have a young adult sister series called Chronicles of Nick which is more like Buffy in tone.
I am also a fan of Mercedes Lackey's Elemental Masters series and her 500 Kingdoms series, which are retellings of fairy tales in somewhat imaginative ways.
Then there is Rick Riordan with his Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus, Chucks of Asgard, Chronicles of Kane series, which, while for young adults, are good ways to bring older mythology into today's world.
But then, I also have a room that has one wall full of bookshelves.

My apartment resembles a library.
Mercedes Lackey is really good. I've read a lot of her books. I particularly enjoy the Valdemar series.
If you like SciFi/Fantasy one of my favorite books is by Stephen King. It's called the Eye of the Dragon and is very different from anything else he's written.

I got distracted and abandoned Game of Thrones during book 3 and need to get back to it.
I'm currently reading a book I bought from Blind Date with a Book - the book was wrapped in brown paper and stamped with just a few keyword descriptors on the outside so the contents were a surprise. It's an Icelandic thriller called Burial Rites, written in the style of the sagas and based on the true story of Agnes Magnusdottir. Beautiful, poetic writing and the setting is so bleak and lovely.

Someone mentioned Stephen King's Eye of the Dragon, it's definitely one of his better books and I read it ages ago. I think it's time to dig it out of my book collection and re-read it again.
I generally read about 1 or 2 novels a week, the last one I got was Ready Player One. This book is very well written. I've been wanting to buy it for a while, before I knew it was going to be a movie adaption.
The other books I read recently were a re-read, Alas Babylon by Pat Frank and Imager's Ingrigue by L. E. Modessit, Jr.
