Do we know for sure that the higher ups aren't saying anything before the new season? It's possible, which is why I think now would be a great time to write Pedowitz about concerns. I'm with you, PAforrest. It's really felt as if Dabb has tried to make Sam into a one man hunting marvel while reducing Dean to the guy who eats a lot, sleeps around, and drives the Impala. Oh, and occasionally, Dean might hold a gun, even if he doesn't get to use it (the whole thing with the Colt was insulting as all heck.) Which is why I was shocked by Berens' episode. I expected the OTT Sam pimping; I didn't expect Dean to be proactive and badass. Did anyone else feel as if the finale set up the direction for next season? At JIB, Jared said that he felt Lucifer's true vessel Sam is tied to the Nephilim - it wasn't clear whether that's his own personal head canon or Dabb's spoken to him. But with how Sam was the one who found the Nephilim, I could see that ending up as his storyline while Dean spends yet another season angsting over Mary and Cas.

I wrote an email to Pedowitz earlier and have twittered the heck out of cw_spn, andrewdabb, and thejimmichaels. I guess that's all I can do so now its wait and see. I think we will have a good idea with the premier how the season will shake out as far as Dean.

Maybe we can do another twitter campaign for Dean or new writers. If we get enough on twitter for it to trend, they will take notice.

I wouldn't sweat it much. Pretty much everything Jared says without other sources involved is his personal head canon, especially at this time of year. People get upset over it and then it comes to nothing and we all forget he said anything about it in the first place. Then he says something else the following year and the cycle repeats.

Yeah, I seem to remember another years where he talked about a return of Sam's powers or something. I do however stay worried, because that would be right in Dabb's alley... That, with a side of WallPaper Dean (because he's grieving you know?) and maybe an alternate Cas to reboot the character and the relationships... (and an overuse of althernate thingy to make dead people come back for cheap cameos...) At this point, I'll welcome a "It was all a dream, S12 didn't happen", even if I hate those kind of cop-outs...

Yeah, I think that was maybe two years ago? And Singer made some comment about an All About Sam plot that never came to fruition. Lots of ugh, there.
It's really too early, yet, to tell how badly they're going to screw up this season, I'm afraid.

Unless Dabb & Singer get thrown out, I don't really have any hopes for S13. First time I am actually hearing people looking forward to the hiatus. So am I FWIW.

I am struggling with season 13. The current hacks are writing it and it doesn't look like anyone has stepped in to change the shows direction. Even Jensen seems content and happy with how Dean was treated in 12. I watched the season finale and the deaths of Crowley, Rowena and Castiel didn't even register with me. I felt more when Mick and Eileen died. So I am looking at season 13 and see nothing but stunts and spin-offs and have no faith that there will be anything good for Dean at all. The promos all lie and try to make you believe Dean will have something to do and they never deliver. So at this point, I think I am leaving the show. I have caved in the past but I have never felt this bad about a season before.

Mmmmm... If there's was bad blood with Mark of all people, I think we would kind of know. I mean, most of the cast did kind of say something when they killed Charlie, so given how friendly they seem to be, I think we would have heard something. Although, they all have other things going on in their lifes right now but still... I'm pissed about Jensen not directing, because he said he was at first so there's probably not been much of an effort BTS to still make it possible when complications arose with the opening of the brewery... OTOH, I'm not planning to watch S13 right now so...

Huh, that seems surprisingly negative. I assumed it was a stupid cliffhanger thing they'd resolve in five minutes but MS doesn't come off as a happy camper. I don't think I can do a season of Dabb and stooges created characters.

I'm not sure what's going on with Mark and Ruth, but they both don't seem very thrilled with the showrunners right now. Neither does Jensen. I don't think he liked season 12 at all, but he was too distracted to care. My one big concern about the rumors that he's not directing is that they may indicate he's becoming more permanently disengaged from the show. Which isn't a good sign.
I don't agree that any of these deaths compare to Charlie's. Charlie got eight episodes over four seasons and all of them featured her heavily. Even if you don't think the show should have cut loose a character that was tanking the ratings like that, she got an entire half-season of set-up to her death. The only one who got more swan song was Bobby.
Crowley and Rowena got summarily killed off in a rushed episode that included the death of one other major character (that reportedly won't stick) and the death of a more minor character (Kelly) that nobody cared about. And Eileen got killed off in a freakin' teaser. That's just...ugh.
