I'm happy for the cast and fans who pushed for the pilot to be greenlighted. I wonder if Berens might move over as showrunner if it's picked up to series?
(Personally, though, the premise lost me at: "Under Mills’ training and protection, these women will emerge as a supreme monster-fighting force." It wouldn't surprise me if, within a few short months, they'll be even better than the Winchesters. Oy.)

Not sure how I feel about this. Great news for the actricesses ofcourse.
But since Dabb will be writing the pilotsctipt, how much focus will there be for SPN? He wanted that other awful spinoff.
Or maybe a little less Dabb for SPN will turn out for the best. He can screw up Wayward Daughters.
To bad he killed off Eileen though.

I think they've overestimated the genuine level of interest in this concept, but I honestly don't care one way or the other if it flies or doesn't. If it does, great for Kim et. al. - if not it's no skin off my nose since I won't be tuning in. But, yes, if it does go to series I predict Kim's Jodi Mills will be more of the figurehead character because the CW is going to want the series to concentrate on the younger/teen females running around kicking butt who will, of course, put the Winchesters to shame, even if it's only virtually - i.e., they never appear on said show, which I would hope they don't, especially Dean since he'd be used to make fun of more than anything else. It does sound like Berens will be at the very least the co-showrunner with Dabb, since we know Dabb will be involved on some level, even if it's not as day-to day until they wrap up the original series. Which only means Dabb will have even less interest than he has now, which is none, in the original series concept, just marking time until he can put 100% into the spinoff.

But see, that's the problem, I don't think the CW cares to make anymore showrunner changes to the original series - they're most likely going to stick with Dabb/Singer to the end now, which means having two showrunners and likely an entire compliment of producers focused on two projects, but clearly more interested in the new baby. If the pilot goes to series and this is what happens - because I do think Dabb and Berens will simply take the group of writers they have over to the Wayward Sisters thing (seriously stupid name) - the original series will continue to get slighted and just limp to the end. If the CW brings Carver back to finish off the original series, we may have a better shot of a decent ending - that's assuming the way season 11 ended had nothing to do with Carver because he was working on Frequency at the time (and I do still believe firmly that Carver left the show pretty much after the season 11 premiere, but for sure by the Christmas break).

I think season 12 pretty much confirmed that Carver was still in charge of the show until the end of season 11, since that lousy Lucifer Jr. plot was Dabb's version of the Amara storyline.
I remain amazed that the CW, a network that prides itself on targeting the younger female demo, fails so spectacularly and repeatedly at writing female leads who are even halfway decent. I mean, just look at how they butchered the transfer from book Elena to show Elena (who started out a Bella Swan clone) on The Vampire Diaries, let alone how they turned the spoiled, imperious historical Mary Queen of Scots into a mousy brunette who nearly gets raped in the freakin' pilot (and actually does get raped later on, both things being totally a-historical) on Reign. And don't get me started on how much they hobble poor Kara on Supergirl with these love triangle plots. Nobody cares, CW! I like Supergirl, but come on. Why the hell is Kara always stuck apologizing for freakin' breathing?
No wonder their show audiences actually skew old and male.
I want to like this because I do like Jody and Donna, and I even like Alex and Claire. But this sounds an awful lot like that craptastic Potentials storyline on Buffy (which pretty much tanked that show) and...well...it's Dabb.

I'm pretty wary of this spin-off, but will definitely give it a chance, if only because I love Jody (and Kim Rhodes!)
