I thought I'd post a rate thread here for those of us who would like to rate it. I plan to rate this episode after I re-watch it.
So what did y'all think of it?

I enjoyed it. Hard to disappoint me when an episode is Dean-centric. Jensen running the gamut of emotion from childlike goofball to devastated at his fading memory was worth the watch.
Pretty lame witch action though. I thought they'd be tougher to take down - fairly run of the mill for such an ancient family bloodline with a big bad grimoire.

Oh absolutely! Jensen did an outstanding job.

9/10 for me.
Positives:
-Jensen's phenomenal performance and depth really struck all of the emotional chords that Dean was going through. -The bathroom scene where he was rapidly forgetting everything was sad, and the moment he forgot himself made my heart break for him. -I also loved the levity that was there along with the weightier moments that helped to balance out the episode. -I loved seeing Dean's earlier season's zeal again about the hunting life. I miss how that used to balance out the negative aspects of it. -It was nice to see Sam being supportive and protective of Dean without being overbearing. -I enjoyed Rowena and her interactions with Dean and Sam.
Negatives:
-Didn't much care for the witches, or that one witch singing, It was an okay WTF? moment for me.
I really loved this episode. It was Dean-centric and Dean focused. And I liked that the uninspired witches story was just a part of the episode, which is great considering how the show has gotten into the habit of showcasing the guests, while pushing the leads (particularly Dean) into background wallpaper. Meredith Glynn did an awesome job. Her last episode, even though it had the over the top Hitler, seemed to show her understanding of the characters. That was even more apparent in that regard in this episode to me. This is one of my favorite episodes this season. Steve Yockey and Meredith Glynn are the strongest writers on the show IMO. I'm looking forward to more of their episodes.

I posted my review in the episode thread rather than this one the way I normally do on imdb, because I'm not on the boards whenever the episode is airing. So my thoughts are there, but I will say this one is likely to turn out to be my favorite of the season.
- Dean-focused, which is so rare these days. - Material that allowed Jensen to run the gamut of emotions, of which he is a master and almost never gets to do anymore. - The Winchester brothers were the leads, which is also rare these days. - Rowena fit the storyline like a glove, and wasn't just there to use Ruth because contract! - The guest-stars were guest-stars used to move the story along for the leads, the way it's supposed to be done. - Dean music montage! Though, while awesome, felt weirdly like a goodbye to Dean/Jensen. - I actually want to rewatch this episode, and that pretty much never happens now.
9/10

Yeah. I, myself, usually stay off the boards before I have seen the episode first. I love reading the discussion threads as well and post in them periodically too. And people can certainly just post their rating here without expanding upon why if they so choose.

Just ended watching it. I'll give it a solid 8. May be a little too much comedy moments, but for once none that made Dean the butt of a joke so that's a big plus. Major A+ acting from Jensen, but then that's the one thing I had no doubt about. I found the witches pretty underwhelming, especially the woman, including the acting but maybe that's because the others were so strong in that episode that they didn't stand a chance (hell, I even liked Sam this episode and that's a rarity for me nowadays!) The scenes with Rowena were really cute, and the mirror scene just heartbreaking. What I didn't expect was the ending montage. The song actually made it quite gut wrenching, even though the images were good fun... And now I'm off to rewatch it, which is also a nice surprise! (the wanting to rewatch it part) I definitly liking this writer! (and that director too!)
ETA : to my eternal surprise, I wouldn't be unhappy about Dean and Rowena hooking up for a night. (can you imagine Crowley's reaction? "But...but... I was there first!!!!")

It's all in the same general category, folks. Post it here or in the discussion thread; that's fine.

"the mirror scene just heartbreaking."
Yeah, absolutely.
"I even liked Sam this episode and that's a rarity for me nowadays!"
I did too. I usually find him either uninteresting or aggravating, mostly uninteresting though. Seems the writing for Sam has improved a bit IMO.
"to my eternal surprise, I wouldn't be unhappy about Dean and Rowena hooking up for a night."
I was also, strangely, okay with something happening between them.
