Fishpan, stop baiting the mod.
I agree that the murders are intended to turn the audience against the LoL and show us they're bad before the Brothers do. I don't think the Brothers (Dean, anyway) need that much proof. The whole capture-and-torture incident with Sam was enough for Dean and it was enough for Sam until he got handed the idjit Ball last week.
I don't agree that Toni went off the reservation. I think it was a Bad Cop/Good Cop strategy all along, with Toni playing Bad Cop and Mick riding in to "save the day." Toni seemed sincere about not wanting Retch to get called in, though.
Frankly, as long as we never see her again, I'm good with not finding out the rest of her whole deal.
I really enjoyed this episode, I didn’t think I would due to it being Dean lite, as you can tell I am a Deans girl. I can understand Jensen wanted to be with his family, for the birth of his twins.
I was pleased they continued with the conversation between Mary and the boys. I was sad to see Sam wanting to join the men of letters, why doesn’t Sam just say to Dean he wants to work with them instead of being sneaky and going behind his back again. Dean is going to feel so betrayed again by his whole family. Dean and Mr Ketch can team up I suppose, but Dean is nothing like him.
Had they teamed up when Dean had the Mark of Cain, it might have been a different story.
I think Dean's reconciliation with Mary at the end was motivated in large part by looking at Retch and his unapologetic misogyny, and thinking, "This is not me. This is not how I want to end up."
At the end of the day, Mary is his mother, both biologically and though nurture. She's the woman who carried him to term. Who sang him to sleep at night and made him soup when he was sick. A woman whose absence he missed so fiercely for *decades* that he threw his own beloved baby brother up against a bridge pylon for daring to speak remotely ill of her. He didn't have that kind of relationship with Grandpa Shady and also, Mary never pushed things as far with her sons as her father did. She did come clean without having it dragged out of her and she was contrite at the end of this week. Plus, she did beg him to reconcile when he cut off contact with her, indicating that relationship they'd once shared was not entirely a fantasy inside his head. So, those things all weighed in her favor, as well.
One could argue that Dean was justified in continuing to freeze Mary out, but I don't think anybody wants Dean Winchester to be a person who'd disown his own mother.
This is exactly what warmed me to her with this episode. She chose to come clean. She pushed for reconciliation after Dean froze her out. She seemed genuinely remorseful of her previous betrayal. I didn't see the end scene between Mary and Dean as him apologising to her, but rather him acknowledging that their parent/child dynamic has changed and he forgave her mistakes, for his own as much as for her benefit.
I'm not convinced we've seen the end of Toni either. It feels as though the BMoL are restating 'she went rogue' in every episode, so much so that it stands out like dogs' balls every time they say it. We get it. She went rogue. They're protesting her alliance to them so much that I'm having trouble believing it.
I think there's a really think line between bashing Mary for the sake of bashing Mary, and commenting on the really bad work the writers have done to her character especially in episodes like this. However, Fish started with an apology, which to me seemed to imply that they know the line is thin.
I totally get your annoyance at Mary bashing, Snow, but I don't see Fish's post as being willfully taunting.
thesnowleopard: The season finale was better than last season's finale. Hell, the whole season was better than last season. Some episodes were worth watching. Others were kinda messy.

onali: Since I haven't been watching the show I don't know how some (former) dead characters have returned (in what form) but I have to say that I don't miss the show at all. Is it still worth watching or not?

onali: It's been a long time since I've been here. Only watched the Season premiere then .... nothing. Every now and again I watched what you were rating the episodes and yes I've seen some spoilers (can some people just please stay dead??!!!!!) (1)

gopacgo12: Ok, so is anyone here going to the Las Vegas 2018 Supernatural convention, because if so I will see you there, but i'd just like to talk to some others

thesnowleopard: I have to wait until tomorrow night to "live recap." I don't currently have live TV, just streaming.

paforrest: Excited is not what I'm feeling. But I've set the dvr, will live watch Gotham & Will & Grace, then The Good Place off the dvr. Maybe tomorrow I'll FF through SPN if, and only IF, I hear there's any good Dean.

onali: So ... who is excited for tomorrow? I still have to re-watch the last couple of episodes, but I am lacking the enthousiasm.

SkeksisGirl: Just FYI guys, Luxshine is going to be in Florida come mid October. She and I are going to be vending as artists at Spooky Empire. So much hugs and puppies to her when she's here.
Sept 25, 2017 18:55:18 GMT -5
luxshine: Thank guys. There was ANOTHER earthquake here today, but this time I didn´t even feel it. Just dealing with a bit of PTSD. So if you can send fluffy things and cute Jensen or Misha pics my way, I´ll appreciate it.
Sept 23, 2017 16:37:18 GMT -5
onali: Glad you all are ok over there.
Sept 22, 2017 19:31:28 GMT -5
paforrest: So glad you're okay, luxshine! Absolutely heartbreaking situation. And I'm terrified and devastated for Puerto Rico and the other islands impacted by Maria. Mother Earth is very pissed off at us.
Sept 20, 2017 7:25:07 GMT -5
luxshine: New Earthquake here in Mexico. Now... a bit more savage than last week's. But I'm ok!
Sept 19, 2017 20:37:51 GMT -5
SkeksisGirl: And now we may have Maria...
Sept 19, 2017 13:10:20 GMT -5
luxshine: I'm glad people from Florida are ok! We had a bit of an earthquake in Mexico, but other than three terrified kitties, I'm ok.

paforrest: Belatedly checking in from Florida. My roof held and no trees fell on the house, miraculously enough. Spent two days cleaning up debris in the yard, but we fared better than most, for which I'm grateful. But I feel for so many that are suffering.

SkeksisGirl: Checking in from FL, I survived Irma with power and no damage to my apartment.

SkeksisGirl: As for Creation, this is why I work them.
May 27, 2017 17:00:08 GMT -5
SkeksisGirl: Oh, the new owners for Megacon are just turning it into a meat grinder. They've screwed over a lot of people.
May 27, 2017 16:59:57 GMT -5
paforrest: Yeah, I've been to a few Megacons in the past - they can be a cluster. But I was talking about how years ago I'd have been thrilled if a Creation SPN con finally came here. Now it is and I don't care and can't justify the money. Changing times.
